What we do

The carpentry work we do most

Most jobs fall into one of these. Many visits cover two or three at once.

Doors and frames

Doors that stick, drag, will not latch or have swollen in the humidity. Planed, rehung, re-hinged or replaced, including locks and handles.

Best for:Apartments, villas, offices
Watch for:Swelling from damp or leaks

Wardrobes and cabinets

Sagging shelves, broken runners, loose hinges and doors that no longer line up. Repaired, or built new to fit the space.

Best for:Bedrooms, dressing rooms
Watch for:Board too weak to hold a screw

Kitchen cabinet repairs

Swollen cabinet bases under the sink, broken hinges, drawers off their runners and worktop edges lifting.

Best for:Rentals, older kitchens
Watch for:Water damage from a slow leak

Shelving and custom joinery

Shelves, TV units, alcove storage and study desks made to measure for awkward spaces.

Best for:Living rooms, home offices
Watch for:Fixing heavy units to gypsum walls
Common problems

Signs your woodwork needs attention

Humidity and constant AC are hard on wood and board. These are the problems we see most in Dubai homes.

Doors that stick or will not close

Wood swells when damp air meets AC-cooled rooms. A door that closed in winter can bind in summer. It usually needs planing and rehanging, not replacing.

Hinges that have dropped

Screws pull out of board over time and the door sags. Longer screws, fresh fixings or new hinges bring it back into line.

Drawers that jam or fall out

Runners wear, bend or come loose from the cabinet. New runners are quicker and cheaper than a new unit.

Swollen board under the sink

Chipboard and MDF soak up water from a slow leak and crumble. The leak gets fixed first, then the damaged panel is replaced.

Gaps and loose skirting

Skirting and door frames pull away as walls and floors move. Refixed and sealed, they stop dust and insects getting behind.

Locks that stick

A lock that needs forcing is often a door out of line, not a broken lock. We check both before replacing anything.

Repair or replace

A new kitchen or a kitchen repair?

Many kitchens that look finished only have a few failed parts. Replacing everything costs far more than fixing what actually broke.

Replace everything

  • Weeks of disruption with no kitchen.
  • Working parts thrown out with the old cabinets.
  • Building approval for a full refit.
  • The cost of a complete new kitchen.

Repair what failed

  • Swollen panels replaced, not whole units.
  • New hinges and runners on existing doors.
  • Doors realigned and handles refitted.
  • Often done in a day or two.

Before you order a fitted wardrobe

Four things to decide before a wardrobe is built

A fitted wardrobe lasts years. These choices decide whether it still works well at the end of them.

1

Hinged or sliding doors?

Sliding doors save space in narrow rooms. Hinged doors give full access to the inside. Measure the space in front before choosing.

Good to know:

Sliding doors need a level floor and a straight ceiling line.

2

What goes inside?

Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and shoe racks in the right mix. Plan it around what you actually store.

3

Is the wall damp?

A wardrobe on an outside wall or next to a bathroom can trap damp. Check the wall first, or leave an air gap behind the unit.

Why it matters:

Trapped damp means mould on clothes and swollen board.

4

Does it need to come with you?

In a rented flat, a freestanding or easily removed unit may make more sense than one fixed into the walls.

One practical note on board

Ask what the wardrobe is made from. Moisture-resistant board costs a little more and holds up far better in Dubai's humidity.

FAQ

Carpentry questions

It depends on the job. Repairs are priced from photos, and built-in work after measuring. Send photos on WhatsApp and we reply with a price or book a visit.

Yes. Most sticking doors have swollen slightly in the humidity. We plane, rehang or adjust the hinges so the door closes properly all year.

Yes. We measure the space, agree the layout and finish with you, then build and fit it.

Often, yes. Swollen panels, broken hinges and worn drawer runners can be replaced on the existing units.
